President of MIT Graduate Student Council
2002 - 2005
Elected and served as primary representative for over 6,000 MIT graduate students. Managed the activities of over 150 active members and 8 committees with a total budget of $300k. Initiated over a dozen Institute-level major programs, and saw them to completion. Interacted directly with MIT administration of all levels, hundreds of senior faculty, and many Cambridge City Council members.

Co-Chair of Student Advisory Board to MIT’s President
2004 - 2005
Created the first board of its kind at MIT. Communicated students’ visions for the future of MIT directly to the MIT President through meetings and a final report. Coordinated 8 feedback forums with 200+ students. Facilitated meetings, led development of final report and presented findings to the community.

Led committee of 35 people. Successfully created, implemented, and analyzed largest ever survey at MIT (3,000+ people) to assess needs regarding graduate student life. Used survey results to restructure rents of all graduate residences at MIT. Established and institutionalized methodology for optimally setting graduate stipend levels.

Interfaced with students, faculty and administrators to create largest departmental student group at MIT. Recruited a founders group, took lead in writing a constitution and bylaws for the group, gathered student feedback and support, called and ran all group meetings. The organization has become a great success.
